Our Family Businesses

Although we are mainly aimed at the Horse Riding on the Beach side of things, here's a little bit of information about the people you'll be riding with:

  • Our Blog - A newsletter. Where you can find the latest information about the team and Horses here at Horse Beach Rides, as well as exclusive competitions and specials.
  • Romantic Events - Proposal and Romantic Date Planning for the discerning gentleman. Run by Amelia Byrne.
  • Classy Coverz - When not doing all things Horse Related, Karin Byrne works on a little side business called Classy Coverz, designing hand bags, iPad covers, book and bible covers in faux leather at reasonable prices.
  • Gnat Worx Photography - Our favorite professional photographer, Natalie Oosthuisen.
Local Accommodation
Many people know what they want to do when visiting Durban (like fabulous horse riding), but sometimes you also need to know of a good place to stay while you are here.
We have been operating for 20 years in Durban, and in that time we've gotten to know some legendary accommodation facilities nearby. If you're looking for a reputable and nearby place to stay, try one of these:

  • Ansteys Beach Backpackers - Situated on the bluff, suited well for young people and those with a tight budget. Tash and Rudy are always ready to welcome you.
  • Hilltop B'n'B - Based in Amanzimtoti. This is like a home away from home. Ulla and Dieter will be your gracious hosts.
  • Blue Waters Hotel - Right on Durban's Beach Front. This famous landmark hotel is the lap of luxury.
Other Attractions and Things To Do In Durban

Durban is aptly called "South Africa's Playground" because there are so many things to do outdoors here. We have summer-like conditions all year round.
Here are some of the less "well known" activities that we love and highly recommend to locals and visitors alike:

  • Geocaching - An international "treasure hunt" game using GPS coordinates. Free to play and no monetary value prizes, but fun and games in the great outdoors for the whole family.
  • Helicopter Flights - Available through Romantic Events, these incredible flights will give you a view of Durban like you've never seen before.
